Frequently asked questions
Answers about version 1.1.0.0, ETS5/ETS6, privacy, permissions and availability.
Does KNX-MCP work with ETS5 and ETS6?
Yes. Version 1.1.0.0 is provided as one app package for ETS5 and ETS6. SDK differences are handled at runtime.
Do I need to export my project?
No. The assistant works with the open ETS project model, avoiding a separate and potentially outdated copy.
Can the AI modify my project without asking?
You decide. Reading is allowed by default; project changes require confirmation by default. There is also a project-level read-only mode.
Can KNX-MCP read and send telegrams?
Yes, in ETS5 and ETS6. Sending requires confirmation by default for every telegram.
Does the AI automatically program KNX devices?
No. Device programming is blocked by default and must be explicitly enabled.
Are my ETS project data sent to Gerald Docenko?
No. KNX-MCP does not operate a server your project data passes through. The app provides the local MCP endpoint; you choose which AI service processes data via the client you connect.
Can I use several ETS projects at the same time?
Yes. ETS5 and ETS6 can expose several open, enabled projects through the same endpoint. The client must explicitly select a project once more than one is active.
Do I need a cloud AI service?
No. MCP support is the requirement; a locally hosted model can be used as well.
Which languages are supported?
The app UI supports German, English, Czech, Italian and Russian.
How do I get KNX-MCP?

Is KNX-MCP free of charge?
